Bio
Many moons ago in Virginia Beach, two songwriters join forces musically and maritally. While maritally joining forces comes with its own naming issues, musically joining forces has created more than its fair share. When Rob and Cindi West first decided to adopt a group moniker, Rob was really into Texas Hold 'Em, even aspiring to win the World Series of Poker. Hey! It could still happen! Anyway, the term for a poker player who is frustrated into making high-risk decisions, usually because they have lost hands they thought they should have won, is "full tilt". Seemingly apt as a metaphor for the music they were creating, Rob and Cindi named their act Full Tilt. Shortly thereafter, a professional poker team (yes, really) named Full Tilt came to prominence. Welp, so much for that.
Ugh! This is just plain unlucky. Like Murphy's Law is in effect... But wait! That could be a band name! And so, the duo thereby dubbed themselves Murphy's Law. Problem solved. Until... One night our heroes showed up for a gig in North Carolina, and the venue manager was confused because Murphy's Law's manager had called him earlier and canceled the show saying it was an unauthorized appearance. What?? Rob and Cindi don't have a manager. And who needs authorization? Turns out, there's a punk band in NYC that has had the name Murphy's Law since 1983. Soon after, the frustrated musicians received a cease and desist order (via MySpace message) to stop using the name Murphy's Law.
It would seem that our heroes had yet again been struck by misfortune. But wait! That could be a band name! And so, the duo thereby dubbed themselves Miss Fortune, and they lived happily ever after.
How appropriate. And unoriginal. It wasn't long until they realized there were multiple other acts with that name. Ugh! Back to the drawing board... But wait! That could be a band name!

But no! Rob and Cindi were determined to never have this happen again. This time they would dream up a name that no other musical act would ever even think to call themselves. Some seemingly random combination of words that only means something to them. And so, the duo thereby dubbed themselves a name derived from the catchphrase from an inside joke, and Rob and Cindi West became She Said Box.
